"Peace"

Two prickings: worked rightside up (leaves worked last, on top of lace);

worked wrongside up (work ground to leaf, hang in coloured weaver, put ground thread at wait. Work leaves, using temporary pins to hold in place, plaits to return, tie weaver to waiting ground thread). Plan ahead - add several twists to one side of plaits at ground-points, for sewings later when ground is worked over top. Working leaves in this way gives a dimensional effect. It is a tricky but rather pleasing manoevre.

Threads: ground and leaf passives, Mettler 50/3; leaf weaver, Brok 30; outside passives, Aurifil rayon multicolour; gimp, Cebelia 10.

Filling for letters: half-stitch (Cross-Twist) and double-half stitch (CTCT) were used. Experiment encouraged!

Ending: If tassel is not desired, throw pairs out evenly as they enter passive border, except two pairs close to end point.Work endpoint, hang back these two pairs, and the passive pairs. Tie close to lace with waiting two pairs ('bundle' finish).
